Financial Controller

 

Salary £70,000-73,000

 

THE ROLE 

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the finance function across the PrettyGreen Group, ensuring robust financial management, control and reporting across all subsidiary agencies.

This role leads both the day-to-day finance operations and the delivery of accurate, timely consolidated financial information, while providing strategic insight to support senior leadership in driving group performance.

Working closely with the Group Finance Director, leadership teams and delivery functions, this role plays a key part in strengthening financial control, improving commercial performance and supporting the continued growth of the business.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Control & Reporting

  • Own and oversee the month-end process, including review and consolidation of management accounts across the group
  • Maintain robust financial controls, processes and systems across all entities
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including VAT, tax and regulatory filings
  • Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial reporting packs for senior leadership and board review
  • Support the Group Finance Director in delivering accurate and timely financial insight

 

Commercial Business Partnering

  • Partner with senior stakeholders and client leads to drive profitability across accounts and projects
  • Analyse client and project profitability, utilisation rates and pricing models
  • Support commercial decision-making through financial modelling and scenario analysis
  • Provide clear financial insight to support leadership in driving performance and growth

 

Cashflow & Working Capital Management

  • Own group cashflow forecasting and management, ensuring liquidity and financial stability
  • Monitor and manage working capital, including WIP, debtors and creditors
  • Drive improvements in cash collection, billing processes and overall cash discipline

 

Audit & Compliance

  • Lead the year-end audit process, acting as the primary point of contact for external auditors
  • Ensure audit readiness through accurate documentation, reconciliations and strong financial controls
  • Maintain compliance with all financial and regulatory requirements across the group

 

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture
  • Drive accountability, continuous improvement and best practice across the function
  • Support the development of team capability as the business grows

 

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement improvements in financial systems, reporting and processes
  • Drive efficiencies through automation and improved reporting capabilities
  • Support the scalability of finance operations in line with business growth

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED FOR THE ROLE:

Essential

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience working within an agency, media or project-based business
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership and development
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition
  • Strong Excel and financial modelling capability
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders

 

Desirable

  • Experience within a marketing, communications or creative agency
  • Experience supporting financial planning within a growing business
  • Experience implementing finance systems or reporting improvements
  • Experience partnering with leadership teams on commercial decision making
