FINANCE MANAGER

Salary £55,000-60,000

THE ROLE

The Finance Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day finance function for one of PrettyGreen Group’s agencies. This role oversees operational finance while supporting leadership with financial insight, reporting and forecasting.

Working closely with delivery teams and senior leadership, the role plays an important part in ensuring financial accuracy, strong commercial performance and effective financial planning across the business.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day finance function including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and month-end processes
  • Oversee client invoicing, revenue recognition and billing accuracy
  • Manage supplier payments and relationships
  • Own credit control and debtor management
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Manage payroll processing and pension submissions
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Act as the main finance contact for external accountants and auditors

 

Management Accounts & Reporting

  • Produce monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
  • Provide variance analysis against budget and forecast
  • Prepare financial reporting packs for leadership and board review
  • Monitor key agency performance metrics including revenue, gross margin, utilisation and recovery
  • Maintain rolling cash flow forecasts
  • Support the annual statutory accounts process

 

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Support the annual budgeting process
  • Build revenue and cost forecasts
  • Maintain rolling 12-month forecasts
  • Model hiring scenarios and growth plans
  • Support pricing decisions and retainer modelling

 

Commercial Business Partnering

  • Work closely with delivery teams to improve project profitability
  • Analyse project margins and identify areas of margin leakage
  • Support pricing strategy and rate card reviews
  • Monitor utilisation and revenue recovery
  • Provide financial insight to support leadership decision-making
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency

 

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Support the continuous improvement of financial controls and processes
  • Improve reporting efficiency and automation where possible
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of project tracking and profitability reporting tools

 


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience managing the full finance function within an SME
  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience working within an agency, media or project-based business
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition
  • Strong Excel and financial modelling capability
  • Experience working with cloud accounting systems such as Xero or similar
  • Experience working with project accounting systems such as Scoro or Productive
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders

 

Desirable

  • Experience within a marketing, communications or creative agency
  • Experience supporting financial planning within a growing business
  • Experience implementing finance systems or reporting improvements
  • Experience partnering with leadership teams on commercial decision making
