TURNING THE POLAROID GO GEN 3 LAUNCH INTO A FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE WORTH KEEPING

Challenge

Gen Z doesn’t have a shortage of photos.

A festival weekend can produce hundreds of them. Selfies, sunsets, blurry dancefloors, videos and the inevitable photo dump. But once they’ve been posted, how many ever get looked at again?

For the launch of the Polaroid Go Generation 3 camera, as part of Polaroid’s The Best of Summer is Analogue campaign, we wanted to give Boardmasters festival-goers a different way to capture the weekend. One that took their memories out of the camera roll and put something physical in their hands.

The challenge was to create an experiential product launch that put the new camera directly into the hands of Gen Z, letting them discover the joy of instant photography for themselves.

Not another photo to scroll past. Something worth keeping.

Activation

We created Polaroid Post & Go. An analogue Post Office in the middle of Boardmasters, designed to launch the Polaroid Go Generation 3 through a hands-on brand experience where festival memories could make their way from the festival field to the front door.

Festival-goers picked up the new Polaroid Go Gen 3, captured an instant portrait and, while their picture developed, turned it into a postcard. Adding doodles, decorations and a message to their future self.

Then they posted it. Literally.

Hundreds of postcards left Boardmasters before landing on doormats after the festival, bringing back a memory that might otherwise have disappeared into the camera roll.

But we wanted people to experience the new camera beyond the Post Office too.

With Swap & Go, festival-goers swapped their phone for a Polaroid Go Gen 3 and eight shots, then headed back out into Boardmasters to capture the festival their own way.

No endless retakes. No checking the group chat. No pressure to post it there and then.

Eight shots. 90 minutes. Whatever caught their eye.

And our roaming Polaroid Posties took the experience out into the festival, capturing spontaneous moments and inviting more people to discover the new camera and a different way to post.

Together, the experiences turned the product launch into something people could actively take part in, putting the Polaroid Go Gen 3 at the centre of their festival memories.

Impact

Across five days, 5,847 people directly engaged with Polaroid at Boardmasters, bringing the new Polaroid Go Generation 3 camera to life through an immersive experiential marketing activation.

337 festival-goers swapped their phones for a Polaroid, spending an average of 90 minutes with the camera — more than 500 hours of analogue time collectively.

And 625 memories made their way from Boardmasters to people’s doormats, giving the product launch a second life long after the festival had finished.

Because the best festival memories shouldn’t just live somewhere between screenshot 4,782 and last summer’s photo dump.

Sometimes, they’re better when you can hold them.
