WHO LET THE GNOMES OUT!?
Everyone at PrettyGreen loves a garden gnome. Well, that’s not strictly true, there’s actually a nameless person at PrettyGreen (who may, or may not, be called Zoe) who’s scared of them, and as some of you will know we even used them as our invitation to PrettyGreen’s summer away day. So, when we were given the opportunity to launch a brand new Virgin Media store at Birmingham’s Bullring, we decided this was the perfect opportunity to get the gnomes out!
The new store’s been beautifully decked out to look like our dream home, replete with high-tech kitchen, low-maintenance garden, and front door answered by Usain Bolt (who must surely be the world’s nicest bouncer!). To celebrate, we threw our very own housewarming party, where the first 50 people to come into the store with a housewarming gift (after all, it’s rude to turn up empty-handed to these kind of shindigs) were given amazing prizes, which led to a huge turn-away queue of Brummies all eager to welcome Virgin Media to the shopping centre.
The person who brought the best prize, walked (well, drove) away with an incredible Samsung entertainment system and top-of-the-range 40″, 3D LED TV (…what, us, jealous? Never…).
The party wasn’t just restricted to the store itself, we also had our very own lounge space near the entrance to the Bullring, where we had our Disco Sofa (wait, what do you mean you’ve never heard of a Disco Sofa? Every Grand Design property now has one…) alongside giant versions of classic games, including a Jenga tower the size of a small child (we can confirm that Twister is still impossible even when it’s four times the regular size)!
There was just one problem, amidst the champagne, cake and disco games, all of the gnomes from the store’s garden managed to escape to cause all kinds of mischief, getting themselves lost all over the shopping centre (some even made it outside – turns out, when you live in a garden, you don’t have an aversion to rain!).
Rallying the 86,000-odd visitors to the Bullring to our cause, we held a giant Gnome Hunt, with an array of amazing prizes on hand to help round up the gnomes back to the Virgin Media Garden.
So, if you’re ever in the Midlands and spot a marauding garden gnome, you know where to take it back to…
