Three celebrates Gogglebox sponsorship using a little etiquette
A huge 90% of Brits admit to being avid second screeners – those who use a phone, laptop or tablet to chat to friends about the programmes they are watching simultaneously – and a third have had a film or series ruined by coming across a spoiler on social media.
So we helped Three celebrate their official sponsorship of Gogglebox following the launch, by unveiling a series of ‘Top Tips for Second Screeners’ from etiquette expert, William Hanson, to help achieve the ultimate socially acceptable viewing experience.
The tongue-in-cheek rundown of tips included muting particular words to avoid spoilers, turning the brightness down on your handset to avoid startling others and sending those who call during a show straight to voicemail.
To further enhance the public’s TV viewing experience – a social media game called Lingo Bingo was created, allowing fans to predict the appearance of three popular comments and words during an upcoming show, for a chance to win some top prizes.
The activity proved to be a roaring success, generating 55 pieces of coverage, 2.6M estimated views and 34 broadcast features. OMG that’s worth a cuppa!
