Team Rickshaw tackle 500 mile ‘Ride to the Clyde’

After eight long days on the road with BBC Children in Need’s amazing Team Rickshaw, today marks the final few miles to the finish line in Glasgow. We set off from BBC NBH in central London on the 9th November and have been supporting the sensational team all week long as they have pedalled (not walked) 500 miles for Pudsey!

It’s our 6th year of working in partnership with BBC Children in Need on this incredible and humbling challenge – our key role in the live event being media liaison along the route and organising school visits to get the local children cheering the team along and give them the opportunity to meet their personal hero Pudsey bear!

The challenge has been going for the past seven years, spearheaded by the ever-smiling Matt Baker who takes on the mammoth cycling challenge with a team of six young riders, who have all been supported by Children in Need projects in the past.

Matt and the inspirational Team Rickshaw have this year tackled their toughest challenge to date, with a route that’s not only the longest (500 miles) but has covered the most difficult terrain (including the infamous ‘Struggle’ up and over the Kirkstone Pass  in the Lake District). Yes, The Struggle was most definitely real!

As of Wednesday, we’ve raised a whopping £1,528,601. With another day behind us and the final ride and appeal show this evening, we’re in no doubt that Team Rickshaw will have raised a staggering amount of money thanks to the wonderful generosity of the public, which will in turn help Children in Need change the lives of even more young people via the various projects that they support.

To see the team cross the finish line, don’t forget to tune into the Children in Need appeal show later tonight.
