PrettyGreen Takes Off With Betsafe and Conor McGregor
Last month saw the most talked about fight of the century, with UFC star Conor McGregor taking on undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas on 26th August; and from the second this fight was announced, we were beyond hyped at PrettyGreen HQ.
So when Betsafe told us they had just signed an 18-month deal to become a principal partner of Conor and asked if we fancied being in their corner to produce a knock-out campaign, we couldn’t lace up our gloves fast enough.
Their creative hook for the campaign was simple, yet, brilliant. Offering odds of 49-1 to all new customers that the Irish star would defeat Floyd Mayweather, Betsafe also utilised their existing ambassadors, most notably Tony Bellew and Jimi Manuwa, to ensure the brand was at the forefront of conversation around the fight during Fight Week.
For those that don’t know anything about betting a 49-1 return on a 2 person contest, is an amazing offer. The fact it was offering them on the man who was to many boxing fans underdog, shows whose corner Betsafe were firmly camped in.
For those that know little about boxing, Floyd has had 49 fights unbeaten. It’s a phenomenal record, and the idea that an MMA fighter who has never had a professional boxing bout would break that record, was a lovely hook (jab, cross, and uppercut).
Alongside this Conor McGregor and Betsafe wanted to bring his fans to the fight of the century, so we developed a creative campaign around ‘Notorious Airways’, an exclusive private jet that gave fans a taste of the McGregor lifestyle…which proved to be one of the most enjoyable but logistically challenging pieces of activity in PrettyGreen’s nine-year history.
As part of the activation, Betsafe wanted ‘The Notorious’ to send a strong pre-fight message on his departing 30-seater luxury private jet, so we depicted a giant image of the Irishman alongside a reminder of the odds Mayweather was up against this weekend, with a cheeky nod to the #49to1 odds offer.
Onboard ‘Notorious Airways’ were a small selection of lucky fans, two members of his Straight Blast Gym and Betsafe competition winners to Las Vegas where they watched the fight live at the T-Mobile Arena. Also on-board the jet were Betsafe boxing and MMA ambassadors, Tony Bellew, Jimi Manuwa & Emil Meek, as well as boxing promoter Eddie Hearn.
McGregor even produced a surprise ‘plane safety video’ message for all 30 passengers to ensure those on-board travelled safely and adhered to ‘Notorious Airways’ private jet ‘rules and regulations’.
So after 4 crazy and exhausting weeks, 11,268 miles travelled, 2 epic nights in Vegas completed, 30 very happy passengers, over 100 pieces of coverage, a Clients commercial results which have smashed all targets, and 10 rounds of engrossing boxing action, it’s fair to say we were very pleased to be in Betsafe and Conor’s corner. Conor was definitely the people’s champion.
We just might need a few weeks before we go into our new Camp, but definitely something that fits with our mantra of Life Defining Moments.
