PrettyGreen and a room of 70 world class athletes… A look ahead to this evening’s IAAF Awards

It’s that time of year when PrettyGreen go in search of some winter sunshine and make the journey to Monaco, ready for the IAAF Awards. Checking into our hotel late on Wednesday night the sense of anticipation and excitement was already hard to avoid (the opposite of which can be said for the hotel gym – taking to the treadmill next to a 200m Olympic athlete tends to put one off stepping into their lycra and trainers).

Over 70 world-class athletes have descended upon Monaco for three days of activities, media meets and of course the main occasion; the Awards night, being held on Friday 24th November at the striking, glass-fronted Grimaldi Forum. And PrettyGreen are lucky enough to have front row tickets as the awards Exec Producer, Director and stage management team. Better dust of those sequins…!

This year we also see the addition of a new award; The Photographer of the Year. Greeting guests as they arrive at their hotel is a selection of images taken by the nominees. From Sir Mo Farah to Luvo Manyonga and Karsten Warholm, the exhibition shows in detail the immense dedication and effort that it takes to be an Olympic athlete – every muscle sinew and facial expression caught on camera.

Whilst we are under the strictest orders not to reveal ANYTHING, not even the smallest hint, you can easily follow and listen to the awards unfold tonight. Simply follow the PG social channels for updates on the lucky winners or tune in to the IAAF Radio program from 7.30pm CET which will be broadcasting live from the show. There will also be a live blog running on the IAAF website: https://www.iaaf.org/awards

Following a year that has seen the retirement of some true athletic legends such as Usain Bolt and Sir Mo Farah, the athletic community is now readying itself to focus on its rising stars, many of whom will be here tonight. And what a place to celebrate their achievements, on the sun-blessed shores of Monaco.
