Nando’s at Parklife
There are four guarantees when you enter this world: life, death, taxes and rain in Manchester. Despite the wet weather, the PrettyGreen Nando’s team headed up North to the Parklife Weekender to once again Rule the Roost, bringing the beats and PERi-PERi chicken to Heaton Park with Nando’s Cock o’ Van stage.
For the two days of the festival Nando’s brought the heat with incredible sets on the Cock o’ Van from artists including grime legend Lethal Bizzle, DJ duo the Martinez Brothers and chart toppers WSTRN. There was also a lot of chicken, naturally.
The Cock o’ Van was bigger than ever before with the performances drawing crowds of thousands – the sound system pumping out the music far and wide. The van also staged Parklife’s (probable) first ever disco dance tunnel competition with DJ Artwork lining up revellers and inviting festival goers to strut their stuff to win £100,000 courtesy of Nando’s (there may have been more than a little exaggeration on the part of Artwork here).
If the dance tunnels got a little too much there was always the backstage area to play the Barci Hotwire Bling shaky hand game or just kick back and relax with some chicken wings and a drink. Will Poulter of The Revenant fame popped down to hang out over the weekend and sadly had to bid farewell to an incredibly muddy pair of trainers – you would have thought his time in the wilderness would have taught him that Nike Air Max simply don’t cut it in the mud!
The Nando’s fun wasn’t just limited to Parklife – the artists down at Brighton’s Wild Life festival also got their PERi-PERi fix courtesy of the Chicken Little grill. A whole host of artists worked up an appetite on the south coast with hip-hop legend Ice Cube grabbing some chicken along with headliners Disclosure, man of the moment Stormzy and indie rockers Bastille.
