Warming Up for the Virgin Money London Marathon…

Yesterday, James and Rosie from our Sports team jogged down to London’s ExCel centre to check out the Virgin Money London Marathon Expo, and get some last minute tips before the marathon madness ensues! (Disclaimer: Ok, they’re not actually running it, but being sporty types they pretended they were so they could be in the ‘in-crowd’, you see. Only Natasha is, who’s fundraising page is HERE)
With enough stalls, brands and activities present, we felt like we were partaking on our own marathon just getting through it all! With treadmills galore, speaker stages with talks on throughout the entire day for essential race day tips, stacks of nutritional stands serving ludicrously-tasty bars, gels and powders, and even an endless pool at one stand for potential triathletes who fancied an even bigger challenge, we felt like (sporty) children in (sporty) candy stores. And this is without mentioning the freerunning show that ran every hour…!

As you’d imagine, there was also a multitude of exhibitors there for your every need, selling everything from the latest GPS and cutting-edge tech apparel, to retro headbands and some rather interesting limited edition running vests too… As you can see, James took quite a liking to them, making small talk about Mr Men for ten minutes before slipping on an interesting little number and liking it a little bit too much…
Partaking in our own 30-day transformations ourselves right now (more to come on that at a later date!), running a marathon certainly wasn’t the first thing on our minds before we visited. A few hours carousing around with an army of soon-to-be marathon runners, we’re starting to wish we’d signed up. Time to slip on those running trainers, we think! Until then, roll on Sunday, where we’ll be lining up the streets of London cheering on those #OneInAMillion who’ve put in the monumental training efforts this year to run the 26.2-mile course. See you there!

(PSST: Before you shoot off, take a second to head over to Resident PrettyGreener Natasha’s fundraising page ahead of her run on behalf of Mental Health Foundation this Sunday. Go on, you know you want to…)
