Jolly Hockey Sticks

The whole PrettyGreen office has been absolutely buzzing about the success of Team GB women during London 2012 and no more so than on Friday afternoon.

Bouncing back from the crippling disappointment of losing 2-1 to Argentina in the semi-final match, Team GB Hockey women took on New Zealand in the blistering London sun.

Despite the heat, the team drew on the impassioned home Team GB support and smashed New Zealand 3-1 with goals from Alex Danson, Crista Cullen and Sarah Thomas to take home a brilliant, Bronze medal.

We were especially proud of PrettyGreen friend Annie Panter who put in a driving, battling and determined performance at the heart of Team GB. Annie has visited PrettyGreen towers in the run up to the Games to tell us just how tough the preparation has been for the team. The endurance training alone made us feel a bit queasy. These girls certainly deserve all the accolades they will now get for being the first women’s Olympic hockey medal in 20 years.

We think this is the start of something really special for the ladies, leading all the way to Gold at Rio 2016. We know a whole younger generation of hockey players will now be inspired by their endeavours.

Before you go back to that endurance training though girls we have one question – when are we going out for a drink to celebrate?
