Armour Camp Arrives In The UK… Cue Toughest Workout Ever!

What do you get when you put 300 people in a dark room, blast out some drum and bass and arm England Rugby’s Strength & Conditioning coach, who so happens to be a very hard-working PT, with a megaphone? One massive, brutal workout! Presenting, the UK’s first ever Armour Camp, courtesy of Under Armour.

PrettyGreen was ‘lucky’ enough to experience it first-hand on Sunday; and although Rosie’s last experience of the event venue was a drunken night out within the same sweaty walls of what was once the Warehouse Project, the exposed-brick venue had been decked out in all things Under Armour – kettlebells, battle ropes, ice baths and even a drone swooping above – ready for one of the toughest workouts the UK has seen (we’re not joking).

While half of us were nursing Sunday morning hangovers, these 300 fitness fans – and in some good company too, including gold medallist Amy Williams MBE, boxing champion Anthony Crolla and soap stars from Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and Coronation Street – were powering through a monumental workout, lead by England Rugby’s Strength & Conditioning coach, Neil Parsley, megaphone in hand barking orders, to a video projection backdrop of Under Armour’s athletes putting in work just as hard.

Admittedly, Rosie and Luke managed to avoid actually doing the workout as they were busy celeb-spotting and liaising with media, but there’s always next time…!

The best part though? Without a doubt, the Last Man Standing challenge at the end. After a 45-minute high-intensity, full-body workout, the last thing you want to do is hold a deep squat for as long as possible, but that’s exactly what was on the cards. The winner managed almost 10 minutes straight! Not only did he earn a massive cheers from the crowd and ultimate bragging rights, he also took home the official Under Armour kettle bell. We dread to think what he could achieve pre-workout.

The event ended just as mental as the beginning – a few brave participants flocked for the ice baths, including Amy Williams, while others reached for protein shakes and bars and a good old fashioned stretch before heading home, sweaty and exhausted.
