5G’s coming home – thanks to Three

It’s official, 5G is here and by the end of 2019 here for all of us to use, harness and enjoy, and we’ll soon be able to go binge to our heart’s content.

Three UK announced on Monday (with some help from PrettyGreen) that it will be launching its 5G in two months time.

Three’s 5G home broadband will be going live in August and is set to change how we shop for our home broadband with a plug and play set up, cheaper costs and a faster connection than the current 2G home wifi connection we’re all used to.

Three’s 5G mobile network will launch later in November and will be rolling out across 25 UK towns and cities, which will see Three have the biggest network.

Check out the coverage heat map below with a full breakdown of the 25 towns and cities set to be the first to benefit from 5G from Three.

Being first isn’t always the best, Three is set to have the fastest network, with peak mobile speeds 2x faster than other networks thanks to its 100% 5G network. This means a more reliable connection and experience for users, plus it will be in more towns and cities than other network based on current plans we’re aware of.

Our announcement and sell-in with Three generated over 250 pieces of coverage across online, print and broadcast media with national, tech and regional stories covering the news.  Some of the key media with highlights can be read via BBC News Online, The Sun, Mail Online, Independent, Gizmodo, Tech Radar, The Verge, plus many more titles online.

We’ll be sure to share more news around the launch as soon as we more from Three to announce.
